Update from Embracing Arlington Arts
Dear Arts Patrons, Aficionados and Supporters,
We have had a busy and fruitful month and highlights are below in this Update.
Fundraising Event at Heavy Seas Alehouse:
Thanks to everyone who came out to eat at Heavy Seas Alehouse on May 1st to help support a Press Release subscription with ArlNow that will allow our Arlington arts organizations and artists to submit 2-3 Press Releases a year for free (instead of the several hundred dollars it would cost them) on the ArlNow website. Estimated reach is 250,000 readers. Proceeds from the night pushed us to the halfway mark of being able to subscribe.
We hope to get over the finish line at our second restaurant fundraiser so please mark your calendars. Palette 22 in Shirlington will be our generous and gracious host on Tuesday, July 10th ALL DAY. More details will be coming soon but many thanks to Palette 22 for donating to our cause.
2nd Annual Celebration of the Arts in Arlington – October 4:
We are so excited to announce the date of our 2nd Annual Celebration of the Arts in Arlington! It will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Mercedes Benz of Arlington. Many, many thanks to them for agreeing to be our venue host! You don’t want to miss THE premiere event that honors and celebrates the importance of our arts organizations, visual artists, patrons and everything “art” in Arlington. We have lots planned for the night, including food from Arlington restaurants (we have already confirmed 6!), beer and wine, live music, a costume contest with dignitary judges (with a wonderful first place prize) and much more. Details will be announced over the next several months, but in the meantime attached is the “Save the Date” card. Please mark your calendars AND forward this to your friends, colleagues, family and anyone else who loves the arts.
ALL proceeds will be used to enable us to embark on a major capital campaign to raise funds to build a quality, stand-alone performing arts center here in Arlington. Such a theater will be a game changer and an economic boon to the County, as well as help support our many restaurants and hotels who lose revenue whenever Arlingtonians go outside the County for their entertainment. It will also help retain the successful professional arts organizations performing in Arlington now and bringing back some who were forced to leave due to venue shortages and closures (including Artisphere and the Rosslyn Spectrum), but also to fill the void for a live music venue due to the closure of Iota in Clarendon. Such a venue will also likely attract more patrons from outside Arlington, and introduce them to the restaurants, public art, hotels, development projects, resident living opportunities, and much more available here.
And of course, sponsorships are very much welcomed and available. Let me know if you want more details about how your company can benefit from sponsoring our event!
Radio Show on WERA 96.7FM:
The Embracing Arlington Arts radio show continues to have wonderful guests each week. This month we chatted with the Director of the Festival Argentino Daniel Manzoni, Stage Manager Larry Grey and Lead Actor Keith Cassidy from Dominion Stage’s production of “How I Learned to Drive,” and a very uplifting interview from the Director of Marketing for Artstream John Newman and actor Nick Kramp. To listen to these interviews, or any others in the past, follow this link.
