Update from Embracing Arlington Arts
Dear Arts Patrons, Aficionados and Supporters,
We have some exciting things to report since our last Update. As always, please feel free to contact us with news, interesting stories, ideas for initiatives or events, or anything else to help us achieve our mission: To inform others about the importance and diversity of the arts, artists and arts organizations in our community; celebrate the critical contributions the arts make to all sectors of our County; and spread the word about the extremely diverse performance and cultural events held in Arlington.
Embracing Arlington Arts Latest Honorary Member:
You might have seen him in the Avant Bard production of Gospel at Colonus? Or maybe you saw him in the movie “The Butler”? Perhaps you know him because he is a life-long Arlingtonian who has done so much for our County, including being the Founder of the Arlington Community Foundation? Or maybe you or someone you know has been honored with a William T. Newman Jr. Spirit of Community Award nomination or award? However you might know him (or be interested in meeting him), we are so honored that Mr. Newman has not only agreed to be an Honorary Member of Embracing Arlington Arts, but he also will be participating with GoRemy in judging our “tableaus” being presented at the Oct. 5 Celebration of the Arts in Arlington by several local arts groups! Thank you so much William Newman for being such an avid supporter of the arts in Arlington – and for being such a great actor! We are so looking forward to working with you on our celebration and seeing you in future performances.
Oct. 5 Celebration of the Arts in Arlington:
Speaking of the Oct. 5 Celebration, there are some additional sponsors that we want to acknowledge and THANK for supporting the arts in Arlington: (This is in addition to the list of sponsors cited in last month’s issue of the Embracing Arlington Arts Update.)
Thanks to the following companies who have agreed to financially support us: Clark Construction (which is such an important partner in Arlington County for all building upgrades and improvements) and CSR Communications (which specializes in strategic planning, communication, board development and a whole host of other professional services).
We also have many more restaurant donors so come prepared to eat a lot on Oct. 5. They are: Mike Isabella’s Arlington Restaurant Kapnos (Isabella also owns Yona and Pepita), Lebanese Taverna, Portabellos, Nando’s Peri Peri, Heavy Seas Alehouse, Pancho Villa, Whitlow’s on Wilson, Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe, and Bayou Bakery. Also as a beverage sponsor is Total Wine.
Registration is now OPEN for the Oct. 5 Celebration so purchase your tickets today. See attached for more information and the link.
Media Outreach:
Our Press Release was covered by InsideNova (http://www.insidenova.com/news/arlington/new-report-estimates-economic-impact-of-the-arts-in-arlington/article_e57b18fc-72d8-11e7-b5a5-43a4cabb8c1c.html) about the positive economic impact the arts have on Arlington County. Also, we will be launching our weekly radio show Embracing Arlington Arts on September 5. Each Tuesday at 3:00 pm week, we will highlight a different art group, artist or other developments in the Arlington arts world. So please tune in at 96.7FM or online at https://www.wera.fm/listen/playing-now. We might even periodically have free tickets to offer after the show!
Keep Spreading the Word:
Already we have several hundred arts patrons and supporters following us on Facebook and on our mailing list. Our goal though is to reach thousands so please keep spreading the word. Forward this email to your friends, colleagues and peers who love the arts. Ask them to “like” and “follow” us on Facebook; follow us on Twitter, #EmbracingArlingtonArts; and join the EAA mailing list (https://goo.gl/forms/NJ0adiD0StmIBfbc2).
