Embracing Arlington Arts Releases Third Edition of “One-Stop Library of Studies”
We are proud to release the third edition of a one-stop library database of 100 study links providing scientific evidence of the health benefits (both physically and mentally) of various arts genres for every community sector. Each year the organization updates the online library to ensure that no study cited is more than 5 years old.
The database is broken down into five community sectors (Medically Disabled, Physically Disabled, Seniors, Students/Children and Veterans), with five study links for each of the four art therapy genres (dance, music, theater/drama and visual arts) for a total of 100 study links. The goal is to encapsulate a robust representation of the breadth of studies available on these health benefits, as well as offer one specific site where visitors could find all these studies.
This year’s edition also includes several studies focused on the impact COVID has had on different community sectors and how the arts are helping people cope with not only the pandemic, but the isolation of quarantining, stress, long-term COVID symptoms and more. Embracing Arlington Arts suspects there will be many more of these types of studies coming down the pike and it clearly shows how important arts and culture can help with changing health issues impacting our nation.
The organization welcomes suggestions for additional studies to cite in its library. Submit your links to janetk@embracing-arlington-arts.org.

Embracing Arlington Arts Talks” Podcast:
We were really pumped about our March podcast guests. First, we met with Visual Artist Francie Hester who produces unique art pieces using aluminum honeycomb panels and who has an exhibit at the Fred Schnider Gallery of Art. Then we learned so much about choreography and fight direction from Stefan Sittig who is one of the best in the trade.
The following week we were so happy to welcome back to the show the Producing Artistic Director of Theater Alliance Raymond Caldwell who updated us on the many, many projects he is working, including at three theaters in just as many months. We finished the month learning about how musician/producer/concert organizer Ron Newmyer has been so critical to the music scene in the DMV by promoting and highlighting local musicians.

Media Hits:
Broadway World published an article about the release of our 2023 “Health Benefits of the Arts One-Stop Library of 100 Study Links.”
Also during March the Gazette Leader plugged the upcoming Democratic County Board Candidate Forum on the Arts in Arlington. ArlNow also included a blurb on the event.
